H.E. Ms Jane Marriott | British High Commissioner to Pakistan

Ms. Jane Marriott CMG OBE is a senior British diplomat serving as the British High Commissioner to Pakistan since July 2023. She is a career Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) officer who joined the UK civil service in 2001 after earlier roles in the Cabinet Office and Home Office. Over two decades, she has built extensive experience in conflict, security, and political diplomacy across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

Before her current posting in Islamabad, she served as British High Commissioner to Kenya (2019–2023), where she led UK-Kenya cooperation on trade, climate resilience, development, and security. She also served as British Ambassador to Yemen (2013–2015), a critical period requiring engagement in a complex conflict environment. Her wider career includes senior roles such as Director of the UK’s Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit and senior diplomatic assignments in Tehran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and at the UK Mission to US-led regional operations.

Marriott has been recognised for her service with an OBE (2004) and CMG (2023). She is widely regarded as a specialist in counter-terrorism, regional security, and strategic diplomacy.
